Editing your DNS records

Updated 1 month ago 12 views

DNS records tell the internet where to find your website, email and other services. Most customers never need to touch these — but if you are connecting a third-party service (Google Workspace, a verification record, an external mail provider) you may be asked to add one.

Steps

  1. Log in to your control panel.
  2. Open DNS Zone Editor (or DNS Zones).
  3. Choose the domain.
  4. To add a record, pick the type and fill in the value:
    • A — points a name to an IP address.
    • CNAME — points a name to another name.
    • MX — directs email to a mail server.
    • TXT — verification and policy records (SPF, DKIM, domain checks).
  5. Save.

Please be careful

Changing or deleting the wrong record can stop your website or email working. If you are following instructions from another provider, copy the values exactly. Changes can take up to a few hours to spread across the internet.

When in doubt, send us the record you were asked to add and we will add it for you — open a support ticket.
