FTP lets you transfer files with a program like FileZilla — useful for large uploads or for giving a developer access without sharing your main login.
Create the account
- Log in to your control panel.
- Open FTP Accounts.
- Click Create FTP Account.
- Set:
- Username and Password.
- Directory — the folder this account can reach. To limit a developer to one site, point it at that site's folder.
- Click Create.
Connecting with FileZilla (or any FTP app)
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Host | server5.atlantishosting.net |
| Username | the FTP username you created |
| Password | the FTP password |
| Port | 21 |
| Encryption | Use explicit FTP over TLS (recommended) |
Once connected, your website files are under public_html.
Security tip
Delete FTP accounts you no longer use, and give a contractor an account limited to just the folder they need rather than your main login.
